Nostalgia's Corner: INXS
Since I love 80’s music and there are so many great bands from that era, I’m starting another fairly regular post called Nostalgia’s Corner. The first featured band is the one and only INXS.
One of the most underrated bands of that decade, INXS was an Australian rock band formed in 1977. Fronted by Michael Hutchence, who quickly became the focal point of the band, INXS released their first album, The Swing, in 1984 and obtained their first number-one hit in Australia, “Original Sin.”
They followed with successful albums, Listen Like Thieves, and Kick, which include hit songs like “What You Need,” and “Need You Tonight.”
INXS has mediocre success through the mid 90’s and released a comeback album in 1997, Elegantly Wasted. Sadly, On November 22, Michael Hutchence was found dead in his hotel room in Sydney.
The band attempted to move forward and participated in the tv show, Rock Star: INXS in an attempt to find a new lead singer and ended up choosing contestant, J.D. Fortune. However, eventually that relationship soured and in 2012, the band announced they would no longer be touring.
Nonetheless, the INXS has sold over 55 million records worldwide and have influenced many other bands we know and love today.
