Band of the Week: The New Division

newdivision.JPG

The New Division is an electronic/synth pop band from Southern California. The band was founded in 2008 by lead singer, John Kunkel as a project while in college. Eventually, in 2011, the band garnered attention with the success of its debut EP, The Rookie. Later that year, The New Division released their debut LP, Shadows.

The New Division is heavily influenced by 80’s bands like New Order and Depeche Mode, as clearly evidenced by their sound. Heavy synthesizers, reverbed vocals, and a mixture of darkwave and dance-driven tracks combine to create the band’s overall style.

The band’s most recent EP, Fader, was released in May 2018.
